Back at JCR

It's been a while since I updated so hers whats been happening.
I had a blast at silver Lake with The Jeep Crew, only got stuck once (pictured). While JCR was installing my 8.8 and rear bumper they misread the order and made me a front bumper...I got an awesome deal on it. My dad gave me his winch, a Warn 9000lb electric to go on my front winch bumper.
I have been driving my Jeep everyday with only a few hiccups. One hiccup was when a bolt worked loose in the Ford 8.8 ring gear and destroyed my gears, but JCR fixed it under warranty absolutely FREE (great people right there) I also had a Detroit locker put in as long as it was all apart. The second hiccup was when I installed a Mojave heater when my blower motor went and it sucked, so I returned it and put in a heatercraft unit, it got warm but couldnt do windshield fog/ice detail. In the process of re-installing the factory heater parts something went terribly wrong with the wiring. My dad and I towed it to JCR when I finally admitted defeat to have them get in back in tip top shape, oh yeah, they are also installing 1-ton steering on top of the knuckles to add strength and improve my steering linkage angle.

Beefcake...BEEFCAKE!!!!

The Jeep is at JCRoffroad getting the 8.8 installed. I have been driving it 10 miles a day to work and it is costing me $60 every 2 weeks to do it. I decided to go with 4.56 gears instead 0f 4.10 because of the testimony I have heard from others concerning power and hills on the highway. I am waiting on an SYE kit so I can measure for my Drive shaft from P.O.R.C. I also am having JCR install a rear bumper and D-rings so I have a rear recovery point for when I go to silver lake in late April.

Runs and Goes

I have the engine broken in and running strong. The suspension is pretty much settled and will still rattle your teeth. I REALLY need to get the 8.8 installed and the front axle re-geared, I swear I am only getting 9 MPG! The drive-shaft vibration is starting to drive me nuts, need that SYE bad but cant get it until I have the 8.8 in so I know the drive-shaft length. I just purchased a set of extended fender flairs so I can be that much more street legal and also not throw mud up the sides of the Jeep.

From 258 to 261

The engine is back in the mancave. Dowkers had to bore it .020 over and I had them install a bigger cam. While installing the oil pan a bolt snapped off in the timing cover. Considering the cover is already damaged I decided to replace it. I will be getting the new cover in a few days and hopefully have it running soon.

Engine is almost done

I took the engine to Dowkers to rebuild. The day before yesterday I checked in and it was being set up to be bored out. Hopefully I can have it back by the end of next week. I don't have a picture of it all tore apart so I guess I post this fun pic of me at the last Detroit auto show.

Boycott E-Bay

I love E-Bay, except when assholes waste you're time. My "re-built" engine has a slight oil consumption problem. The piston rings and cylinders are so worn out that the oil is getting past them and into the combustion chamber. I guess for what I paid for the engine I cant complain, but If that asshole on E-Bay would have just been honest I could of had the engine re-built BEFORE I put it in the friggin Jeep!!!!

So close!

So I've been pretty busy as you can tell. I have the Jeep back on the road and just got my new soft top installed. I still need to have the Ford 8.8" installed along with an SYE and a paint job. I get some pretty bad vibration from the sharp drive-shaft angel from the lift, but I expected that. The effective gear ratio with the 35's is 2.46, I think I could use 5th gear on the freeway, but then my drive-shaft might explode!
